Committee meeting
Dear all
There is a committee meeting this Thursday evening to wrap up a few things from
the summer season. Please let me know on the email below or on this blog if there any
particular items you would like us to address or any thoughts you have on
improving your club.
Many thanks

Annual Tournament and other things
The annual club tournament is scheduled to take place on Saturday 27 June at 2pm (should last about 3 hours). We will endeavour to accommodate people who turn up on the day, but it would help a lot if you could add your details to the tournament database if you can make it (and delete them if you subsequently find you can't) - http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/ButterflyTennis/database
The courts are getting busy now as the evenings lengthen. Can I therefore please remind members to delete bookings if they are not going to be able to make it and also to not to book a number of sessions ahead?
Club rules (see link below) techically state that you should book for a maximum of two hours and that you should not book another court before your original one has expired. I would welcome feedback on this (or any other aspect of the rules or Club in general) as some people do book two ahead and I can see the benefit, epecially if you are trying to play more than once a week.
If you are looking for people to play against, or wish to make yourselves available to play, you can put your details on the contacts list - available from the same section of the website as above - http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/ButterflyTennis/database
I hope you are all enjoying the courts and have remembered to renew your membership subs for the year ahead.
Yours
Hugh Brown

ADULT COACHING
We are running tennis coaching sessions on 4 consecutive Thursdays starting Thursday 11 June.
Session One: 7-8pm suitable for beginners and intermediate
Session Two: 8-9pm suitable for intermediate
Just turn up on the day and pay £5 for one hour. As we want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to join the sessions, you will be limited to a single (one hour) session each week.
The Club is subsidising these lessons to encourage participation.
Remember that new Membership Fees became due on 1 June, and the code for the door has now changed.

ANNUAL OPEN DAY and AGM
Saturday May 30th
12:00 noon to 3:00 pm
at the Butterfly Tennis Courts
(access via Grove Lane)
followed by the Annual General Meeting at 4pm in the Club House
There will be plenty of Tennis play available and our coach Umran will be on hand for tips and to make arrangements for personal lessons. Free ice cream. Membership forms will be available.
A few notes about the BTC--there are no court booking fees; our annual rates are almost 1/2 that other near by facilities - although we are in no way in competition with them. The club is a voluntary-run organisation and our mission is to provide tennis facilities accessed by all in the Camberwell Community. Your subscription helps us in the running and maintenance of the facilities (note the recently completed court resurfacing). We welcome all to attend the Annual General Meeting to see how you could assist in making our Club the best possible assett for Camberwell.

It's membership time
The new membership year is upon us. We have changed the membership year End / Commencement to correspond with the proposed open day - 30th May therefore the membership year will be 30th May / 1st June. Those of you who have been members for a number of years will recall that our previous membership rates were: £100 - Family; £75 - Individual and £25 - Social Member / Concession. The past few years we had reduced this in acknowledgement of the poor state of the playing surface and the last years partial closure.
As you may have noticed, the resurfacing is complete and we have a premium quality playing surface. The north boundary wall is due for completion at the end of this year and the club house is scheduled for the Tennis Club occupancy in 2010. To ensure the future of the club the executive Committee has decided to set the 2009 - 2010 membership rates as follows:
£90 - Family
£60 - Individual
£15 - Social Member / Concession
We will shortly be issuing new enrolment forms and we look forward to your membership and enjoy your play!
Along with the new membership year we will be changing the door access code on or around 1st June. In order to recieve this code you will need to complete your membership form and payment must be recieved. At the moment we are only able to take cash or cheque payemnts.
Please do tell your friends.

Membership Secretary and Treasurer
